Promote use of public transportation.

Our initiative

Vancouver is aiming to Electrify the translink fleet, to support a mode-shift away from private vehicle travel. Phase 1 of this initiative has been funded, allowing for a downtown trolley expansion.

How you can help

Using public transportation is a great way to help reduce Vancouver's ecological footprint. Public transport accounts for just 10% of Vancouver’s transportation footprint, compared to private transportation which makes up nearly two-thirds of Vancouver’s entire footprint.

Support and promote bike-sharing and car-sharing programs.

Our initiative

Vancouver is working to provide an environment for shared transportation and walkability.

How you can help

You can make use of some popular private vehicle alternatives including EVO and Car2go! If you feel like getting some fresh air, another alternate would be a bike sharing system such as Mobi.

Ensure neighbourhood plans contribute to compact urban development.

Our initiative

Compact urban development means smaller homes and walkable neighborhoods! Vancouver aims to reduce average distance driven per resident by 20% from past decade levels before 2020

How you can help

You can explore the new Arbutus greenway, and shop from your local convenience stores and grocers!
